Felt compelled by the recent fear mongering happening by many in this country against Socialism. First of all, socialism is NOT communism, let’s just get that straight right away. Socialism is giving out “wealth” based on the abilities and work produced by an individual (sound like the “American Dream”? I would think so, work hard and get paid for that work), Communism is giving “wealth” out based on the perceived needs of individuals.
Second, a true Capitalist and/or “Free Market” is completely RIGGED to the wealthiest individuals. The country isn’t doing as poorly as many of you think. Our production is reaching new highs and corporations are booming. But then why, Anthony, do we, the normal American people, not see those rewards? Because large corporations don’t need to spend more money because they are filthy rich already. They can hold the money and not put it back into the economy. What would help stimulate the economy? Spending more money, but again the general people have not seen the raise in wealth, only the top 1% of rich people do. The top 1% of wealthy people own Most of the wealth in this country… Put some of that money back into the hands of people who Want to spend money and then the whole system booms.
Third I have listed some of the things we love and embrace, you may be surprised to learn they are socialist in nature and have allowed for the general public to be successful, but there is still more we can do!
Public Schools- Socialist,
40 Hour work week- Socialist,
Weekends- Socialist,
Unions- Socialist,
Minimum Wage- Socialist,
Child Labor Laws- Socialist,
Police/Fire Department/Military- Socialist,
Social Security- Socialist,
Food Stamps- Socialist,
Do we get the picture now??? Pretty scary stuff I listed huh…
Let’s break this down to a simple distinction of Socialism and a true Capitalist system.
Capitalism- Rich and powerful do whatever they want without regulation and general populace is at their mercy because they are the only people handing out wages to the masses.
Socialism- General populace can have ways to regulate and keep the rich and powerful in check to make sure the interests for the masses are not abused and ignored.
