Tuesday March 8th was an important day. I mentioned how crucial it may be for the future of the Democratic Party nominee. It would either mark a True surge for the Sanders’ campaign or it would most likely be the start of his demise. In the end Michigan was not a tremendous amount of delegates and it wasn’t so lopsided that it helped him in the total delegate count. What it did do was 3 things. First, it showed in a state that is more representative of how most democrats feel. It is a state that has a wide diversity and shows a lot of different views and opinions. Second was that it would show some momentum for either of them that might propel them into the Big day March 15th might be. On March 15th we will have 792 delegates assigned. That is about 50% amount of the delegates already declared. This means a strong performance can make a big difference. Third thing is that Bernie Sanders did what some have considered the biggest upset in a state in Primary history. He was as much as over 20% down to Hilary in some polls for Michigan. He also had, even in my own opinion, a weak debate performance right before. This was a monumental day if you are a Bernie Sanders supporter. It is by NO means over. He still has a LOT of work left to do to make up the lead she has from the South states. It also means it is not over in the sense he has a legitimate chance of getting the nomination. A guy who was behind by over 60% last year at this time has a chance at being the next President of the United States. A guy who stands for REAL progressives and REAL liberals, and less of the “defeatist Democrats” we are used to dealing with. America is starting to Feel the Bern, whether the Establishment likes it or not.
Now I will move onto the Debate from March 9th. One day after a HUGE upset by Bernie we had another debate in Miami, FL. This was obviously going to be driven with big immigrant questions. I will say the entire debate was the toughest and most even one I have seen this election season. We all know the Republicans are basically never asked real questions about policies, just “who do you hate”, and “how much do you hate them.” They give NO answers that give any real idea of how life would be, just that they hate Mexicans, Muslims, and Abortions. That is it… But I digress…
This debate was tough. Both Bernie and Hilary got attacked by the moderators, and they did not allow the candidates to have the opportunity to hide from questions. They pressed them constantly with follow-ups. I have said, and still say, I have NO problem with a very tough debate. I LOVE hard questions pushing the candidates to the limit. It is part of my complete frustration with the GOP debates, and how much they can avoid any questions and spew lies to the public and the ONE time a moderator finally calls them out when the lie of 80 years without a Supreme Court Justice being inducted is a complete lie. Their “Demi-God” Ronald Reagan not only had a Justice inducted, but even made a big Grandstand about how it is ABSOLUTELY unconstitutional for Congress to delay the process. Yet here they go being against the constitution once again. The moderator at one point tried to clarify that Ted Cruz was not speaking the truth and brought up Reagan. The crowd showed the difference between Republicans and Democrats. They BOOED. They LITTERALLY BOOED FACTS!!!!! You can’t make this shit up. They were so against the truth they booed the guy for trying to keep the people who might be President honest. The then worst part, again showing how UNLIBERAL the media is, the moderator apologized for correcting him… This is one of the worst examples of how America is FAR from the best country in the world. Again, I digress…
Back to the point of this post. The debate had the records of both Hilary and Bernie put out into the open. They were forced to defend their past. Now for Hilary, to be as honest as I can be, they hit her hard and a lot. The truth of the matter is though, she has been a flip-flopper. There is a legitimate critique of Hilary and the truth is she can and will change her mind. Some of those things were exposed with this latest debate. They got her on her comments that she would not allow illegal immigrant child to stay. To this she had a decent response that provided more context and I will admit I was very satisfied with her answer. Then they actually attacked her about the “Super-Predator” comment I hoped they would. Back in the 90’s as I said before, she made a very racist comment in support for what ended up in a disproportional amount of Black individuals being arrested and filling our prisons. She had no real response but, “I guess I didn’t know what it really meant, I haven’t used it again.” That was somewhat dogged by her. They did not attack her on this, but I think they should have, but her and her husband Bill were in strong support of DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) in the 90’s. That act would keep the LGBT communities suppressed for another decade. She also was NOT in support for gay equality until just about 2013. She finally came around when it became so apparent the popular view was in support for equality. They did attack her on the immigration issue of a “wall” between the USA and Mexico. They criticized her because she has actually had a history of wanting a barrier. She was asked to defend why her plan is better than Trump’s. Her response was one of the biggest disasters I have seen. “Well his is a big wall, not just a fence.” She did quickly realize how bad that was and attempted to make a joke about Trump’s wall, but anyone with a brain saw through it. Bernie once again pushed her on Wall-Street and she had to finally admit, yes she was in support in bailing out the financial institutions that caused the economic collapse of 2008. The whole debate was somewhat summarized when she made a bold and completely false claim, of “not being a natural politician.” Not only does everyone that knows her name, or seen her on TV would know is a complete lie. But the actual saying of that line is a CLASSC politician line. She was noticeably upset with this debate. She refused to counter Bernie when he called her out on Climate Change. She did not like when he finally reminded her of playing a dirty trick of saying that he wasn’t for the Auto bailout, even though he voted for it, but only voted against the Wall-Street bailout. She had to real response once he reminded her that thing like all the trade policies she supports, or supported until realized it was bad for her campaign, had real negative effects on Americans. She was not used to being attacked. Bernie has done his best to not attack her, but he needed to and finally let loose. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues.
Onto Bernie. He was attacked about some things that would possibly be viewed as anti-immigrant. Things I was unaware of and was very eager to hear the answers. But he knew his stuff. He went right back and gave real context about how he did some of these things based on feedback from actual Latino support organizations. They were the ones who advised him that those policies were not for but against immigrants. He was on his game for the first 80% of the debate. One time Hilary made a bold claim that he wasn’t really that progressive either, and he made a bold statement of “I’d put my 40 year record up against yours any day.” He went after her on the speeches and the money she has received. She again had to try to convince the public it doesn’t influence her. That she can and will be tough on Wall-Street if they get “too-big to fail”, and that she told them when they did bad things to “cut it out.” The problem is, and what I wish Bernie would hit her with, that those statements first mean, the fact those banks are BIGGER now than they were when they caused the collapse means they are still not big enough to break up??? Also the idea that she told them to “cut it out” before means she has NO POWER over them. They didn’t listen to her and still did all of the illegal and risky business as usual and you helped them get away with it. Then after all that, Bernie did hit her with this, why after all that did these people give you ANOTHER $15 MILLION dollars for your campaign??? They don’t fear you, they are investing in you to allow them to continue the ways that has made them rich beyond belief. Bernie was on FIRE. Bernie also had the best line of the debate when he mentioned that the CEO of Goldman Sachs called him dangerous. His response was, “I AM dangerous, to Wall-Street.” The crowd cheered the loudest of the night on that line. Now I know I have been somewhat Hilary bashing, but in my opinion of the debate, she was bad, the worst I have ever seen of her. There was however one major bad part for Bernie Sanders. He did in a way support Fidel Castro’s reign over Cuba. This was a major issue and will not look good for him. It was also near the end and may have some future issues. In the end though without a doubt he demolished her through the debate.
On to how the world viewed this debate. By now the headlines are gone, but I would challenge you to go and watch a website like CNN and see the headlines during the Democratic debates. Throughout and after this debate, when everyone knew Hilary looked scared and Bernie looked like the true Progressive we already knew he was, there they were putting headlines up about how Hilary was beating him. She was the one who won the debate. The analysis of what the debate determined by CNN was hysterically one sided. They said that she had finally shut the door on Bernie, and the race was over. The big loser was Bernie Sanders’ chance at the nomination. When I looked at the article my jaw hit the floor. I know she won the debate prior but there was NO way they looked at the debate in neutral eyes. The establishment wants NOTHING to do with Bernie Sanders. He is their worst nightmare. This means that sadly the most uninformed voters will just listen to lies and biased views. I really urge all people to STOP listening or getting information from the mainstream media for political coverage. CNN has many great articles, but they and all the rest of the Media have a LOT of money at stake with elections. They are funded by the ads for Politicians and those donors are the same people who own and run the media. They are COMPLETELY biased and will never give the truth without a caveat. As scary as the internet is, if you can find some trustworthy sites and double check some of the articles, that is the only way to even have a shot of learning facts. I hope that you all take the time to learn more and understand the facts. Have a great weekend. #FeelTheBern
