There has been both a lot of commentary, and in some ways not enough commentary about the Email Scandal over Hillary Clinton’s head at the moment. The FBI has been investigating her and the private server she was using to transfer and work on confidential information on this unsecured server. This would be classified as illegal if this was done with full knowledge of the level of confidentiality and knew people receiving this information were not cleared to do so, and if this server was known to not be a secure one from outside forces wanting access to this information. This type of issue will be tough to prove. There is a reason it has been hushed by both the Democratic Party and Hillary’s Campaign. Even Bernie Sanders earlier in this campaign said it was a stupid thing to talk about until the facts come out. Now we don’t know much still at this point, but it seems we may be close to that time. Why does this matter? Well let’s dive a little deeper into the issue, and what some of MY concerns are.
First let’s look at why this all might be close to coming to a close. Over last couple weeks the FBI has had interviews with Hillary staffers from her time as Secretary of State. They already offered immunity to the head IT person for her at that time, for his cooperation. This whole investigation has been taking place over almost a year. Dozens of different FBI agents have been working on this issue. Now that may be an exaggeration from the GOP trying to make Americans hate and fear Hillary, or there really could be truth behind this. The key is we need the information to really know what happened and if it really was a criminal act. That may happen soon because it looks like this week or next the FBI will have an interview with Hillary herself. That would be a signal to myself that they have gathered almost as much information as possible and will bombard her with that to try to either get confession or any other information they may be missing. I have been reading stories for both sides of the argument that this means they have evidence, and other stories claiming this is all a wild witch hunt. The truth will hopefully be revealed to us soon.
Now with this potential news, soon we have some good news with that. The sooner it happens the better there is a chance for the Democratic Party to help control the issue. If the news show no wrong doing, they can plaster this witch hunt the GOP has insisted on and reveal how much money they were willing to waste in an investigation that revealed nothing. This would actually help Hillary, if she becomes the nominee. Now what happens if it reveals she will be indicted? Well that is the interesting question in this timing. If the news were to be revealed soon, then the DNC or people in general would have an opportunity to elect Bernie Sanders as the nominee to avoid the scandal and risky idea of putting a nominee in front of the American people. The people would be very turned off by this. Let alone the idea of being indicted and then tried for these crimes could lead to her not actually being able to campaign well for this fall and risk losing the Election. Or maybe if everything still goes ok and she wins the nomination and election, but then convicted of these crimes she would most certainly be impeached, or forced to step down as President within her first year as President. Those are the nightmares for the DNC.
The current idea of her being investigated have been already a focus point of the GOP and the presumptive nominee Trump. They will hound her even if she is not indicted. Why, How? Well they do have somewhat of a basic argument or, why would the people even want to elect someone even being accused and possibly some evidence of negligence. Shouldn’t we as a people want more? That is something they will push and will always have some mixed effectiveness. Depending on the severity of the issue, and the amount of potential evidence, Hillary may be putting the Democratic Party in SERIOUS risk. If they nominate her and she gets indicted, we can all say hello to a Trump President.
The next real concern of mine is if they will indict her is when they will do it. Currently, I mentioned, they may be close to the end of this investigation. If that is the case then the DNC will have the options placed in front of them, and the people to make a decision about the best course of action. Obviously there is another candidate still running and Bernie would likely get a very good opportunity then. Or they would need to determine a plan to minimize the obvious effect this indictment would cause. These would be advantageous to the Democrats. Is this likely? I don’t know. What I do know is that the head of the FBI, one of Obama’s “nice” gestures to the GOP when he was still trying to suck up to them, is an avid Republican. Something I am COMPLETELY opposed to in the first place, but it was done and now it may rest in his hands. There would be some indication someone of that position would possibly not reveal one way or another until it was too late for the DNC to help correct the problem. My guess would be either in the middle of the Convention or right after. The perfect time to cause the most chaos. Likely? Still not sure.
If this investigation is bad for Hillary there is a decent chance America and the Democratic Establishment has helped put one of the biggest caricatures of this generation into the most powerful position on the planet. This scares the s#!% out of me. I hope that this whole ordeal is not how I imagine it may go. If there is no issues with the investigation the worst thing most likely to happen is a Hillary presidency, and that may just be a sad fact I will need to accept.
