So here we are. This is our country. So now that it has sunk in for a few hours, I can safely say I have still not fully allowed it to hit me. I know I am slightly overreacting, but seeing the General Election put Trump as President and watch both the Senate and the House stay Red… is TERRIFYING… Not everyone will agree in some of my pessimism. But I will say, that in the end, I cannot get myself to trust Republicans to “regulate” themselves. We’re asking a group of Politicians who prove consistently that they will always put the priorities of the top 1% above all else. Who will disregard the Constitution at any length to achieve control of women, minorities and any faith not in Christianity. The Party that will DENY facts and science to further their agenda. Willing to LIE to the American people against the peoples’ own interest. That is the place we are currently. Starting in 2017 we will have all 3 branches of government control by Conservatives. We can expect a ferocious conservative justice to be put up by Trump. Then potentially 1 or 2 more after that in just 4 years. Could spell a conservative Supreme Court for the next 30 years. Progress will probably come to a halt from our Federal Government. So here we are.
I will honestly say I am devastated. I knew the possibility of a Trump Presidency was far higher than the Pundits would admit, but still thought about 35% chance he’d win. A decent chance, but still the underdog. Though after last night he DESTROYED her. In the end we live in a country that is hurting. A country that was able to be convinced to go against basic humanity ideas and principles because they hated the current Government that much. Despite of course that Obama is the highest rated President in recent history while leaving office. Now, I will say the amount of votes also had something to do with the message Trump portrayed, beyond just the idea of an “outsider.” It is clear after seeing the rallies and coverage of his campaign, that some people not only are OK with how Trump acts or talks, but actually like the racism, sexism, and bigotry he spreads. He hates/fears the same people that those people who support him do.
I have expressed my concern with Trump, and that it could possibly reach as far as Genocide. This is a man that has NO filter, and no idea how to control his emotions. He built his popularity by being the modern day Hitler (politically). In opinions the similarity is uncanny. First we can mention his supporters would yell “Lügenpresse”, which stands for “Lying Press” in German. Why is this so bad? Well, it was commonly, and known for, being used by Nazis. It was associated SO much with Nazis, they no longer use this phrase in Germany. They are both deeply insecure men with the thinnest skin, and the highest opinions of themselves. We know both built their power through appealing to the masses of the majority; and not only ignoring the support from minorities, but actually allow for the hard feelings by the majority to blame the minorities. Hitler went after the Jews. Trump is going after both Latinos and Muslims. Instead of fighting against the “Jewish owned banks”, Trump blames “Islamic terrorists” and “illegal immigrants.” Of course you can see both did their discrimination without caring about the specific individuals, instead just did widespread attacks against every one of that minority. Does this mean a true Genocide is coming? Probably not, but when a campaign is built on hate and fear, there is no part of me that would be shocked at this point.
I also understand that Trump does not really pose a threat to me personally. I understand I am middle class, white, and a man. In the end, I am Trump’s favorite type of individual; besides though that I am educated and not a millionaire. I do know many people though, who may truly have their lives effected to potentially ruined because of this man. Lives and families destroyed because of HATE. I am so mad and upset I wasn’t able to help those people. But in the end, no discrimination will likely happen to me, unless he Literally disregards the first amendment and comes after me and everyone else who tried to warn the people of not only his arrogance and disgusting policies, but of his IGNORANCE, and decides to persecute us all. Because in the end, that is the worst thing about Donald Trump, ignorance. He puts Bush to shame. Trump knows almost nothing. Now he will have power beyond any single other person in the world… I may not believe in a/any gods, but if there is one/many, may him/they have mercy on us all.
Anything positive? Just one, as I see it. In the end more actual people voted for Hillary than Trump. When all was said and done more people chose someone over the other because of morals and humanity. It wasn’t much. And it doesn’t truly help make sure we have a better country and/or world. But this does mean we may recover one day. I can still say America is pretty disgusting. They allowed themselves to be duped by a Fascist. They were taken advantage of just because they knew the establishment was causing problems. I completely agree the system needed to be changed, but this was NOT the way. This will set us back. Wall Street is already seeing HUGE drops because he got elected. No one is confident this country will handle the reign of an egotist of this magnitude. I will spend some time renewing my Passport, in case further evaluation makes it clear this is not the place for me and my family to live. Now let’s see if we can get a Fighter out of Obama over next 2 months and get some real progressive ideas to be supported. May not fix the problems, but might restore some faith that the Democratic Party learned something from 11/8/16, that in the end we need a Party FOR the people, not of the few.
