Last week Trump decided to skip the debate done by Fox as a rebellion against the "attacks" he received from Megyn Kelly. This is my interpretation of the reasoning, and the outcome from that "demonstration."
First lets look as to why Trump would want to skip this debate right before Iowa votes towards the GOP candidates. I believe he did feel threatened and attacked the last time Megyn asked him questions. She asked him a question in one of the first debates about his previous words against women. She asked a legitimate question, asking about why he believes women should vote for him.

He had recently stated, prior to that debate, about Fiorina not having a face people would want as President. He has had a colored past of offensive and degrading words when talking about women, calling them "pigs" and "slobs". This is rightfully raising concerns about Trump not supporting women. His response during the debate was almost hilarious in that he brushed it off saying only saying those things abou "Rosie O'Donnell" and "didn't mean it." I will also make a note that a man that is almost as unattractive as you could possibly be like Trump should NEVER insult someone for their looks. But I digress. Carly stood strong and said that women know what he meant and that he will need to deal with that.
After the debate Trump went on the offensive against Megyn for asking a "got ya" question. He then made the statement she must have...

He of course back tracks later from this comment. Let's get this straight. Whether or not all of these statements are conscious thoughts from Trump is irrelevant. He obvious hates women and has no respect for them. I almost want to laugh at how some women find a way to support a man with a disdain for them. I guess it is the Ann Coulter effect. She is a woman and has made the claim that the United States would be in a much better place if women could not vote... She hates her own gender... Yet she has millions of people reading her books of hate and fear that she claims are facts. The point is that these people hate women and when actually challenged by one about statements that were said by Trump, they will attack with more misogyny.
So that is his claim to why he did not attend. The GOP candidates have had a history of stating that when they are asked questions about things, they Actually said and statements they are making, that these a "got ya" questions. This allows them to skirt around and never answer any questions about actual policy. The closest I've seen them on REAL policy was the tax debate where they were asked how they would pay for the tax plans that would cost Americans 2-14 TRILLION dollars over the next 10 years. Their answers? "Don't worry, I'll find a way to make the budget work." How sad... But yet again. I digress...
The real reason he did not attend. He got to once again attack the media for being "liberal." Which would be funny, if not undeniably scary, that people would actually believe the Fear and Hate mongering flowing out of Fox News is anything but Lies and Deceptive for the Right-Wing GOP. So calling Fox News "liberal media" is equivalent to calling me a skinny guy. Both SUPER false... But the essence of being able to make these statements allows him to create more media coverage of himself. He already owns most coverage and anything more will keep his numbers high. He is showing his control over the media and press.
What this really means for the future. He obviously is trying to ignore any scrutiny of his ideas. He is actively denying things in debates and now ignoring debates all together, just to avoid being challenged on his ideas. He is scared. He won't admit it, but he doesn't like when people challenge him because fear is his best ally. He also knows he has NO ability to respond and actually argue a point. He just says he is "tough" and we must believe him. He has no ability to deal with criticism, and if that is not a red flag for a future president, I am not sure what would be. How will he respond when Putin yells at him about something? I will tell you what I believe. Either he will ignore it and run away from it. Or he will react with the harsh meaningless words of hate. Looks at the debates to see his common response to criticism. "Well I am better than you", or "Well you're ugly." He is a NATIONAL SECURITY risk.
The scariest thing about Trump is not that he will get elected. I do have a feeling his chances would be small to actually win. But the real scary thing is that he has made hate and fear such a normal thing. Americans have been hating and hurting other people for a long time. There has been racism into out society at all levels since the beginning. What he has done is to bring it forward again and allowed it to be socially acceptable. For the better part of 50 years those thoughts and fears were kept in small groups, and not talked about. They were socially "faux pas." Not anymore. This election has somehow made hate and fear socially acceptable and I am in mourning. The world has changed, and NOT for the better. We will now need more change and progress to make strides to having REAL freedom and equality.
We have a responsibility to stand up against hate and fear. We should live in a world where people can live in harmony. I do not want to hate my neighbor, I want to love my neighbor. I believe that is what Christianity is supposed to believe in, just a reminder for those who say they are Christian.
