This post will not be received well by some of the people I know. My frustration at the system that has been doing whatever it can to keep a Candidate like Bernie Sanders from being noticed, has been expressed in this blog multiple times before. This is different, this goes beyond the obvious disdain the Democratic Party and Media has for a specific candidate, but how willing they are to give into the Money and show their bias. These are the issues we yell about the Republicans for, the idea that they are willing abandon morals and beliefs to advance their career and make money. It has been obvious to us all that the Republicans allow that money from Oil/Gas companies to have these politicians LITERALLY deny facts, such as Global Climate Change. The problem is the Democratic Party has decided to adopt some of these types of ideas and move away from caring about the average person.
This trend is the end result of the slow shift to the Right the Party has been taking over the past 30+ years. Now when I talk about the shift to the Right, I am not talking about the social policies. There is no doubt, the general populous of the Democratic Party all support those social freedom policies, such as Women’s reproductive rights, climate change, LGBT support and others. The shift has been happening with the idea of Economic policy. Yes there has been some stable ideas that the rich don’t pay enough in taxes, yet hard to see when we have actually had any change on that issue… Though the problem comes in the ever willing to compromise with Republicans. I know I will sound a bit too tough on the idea of compromise. I understand that being able to negotiate is a foundational indication of making any actual change. If you have stubborn people on both sides we see the inaction we all already associate with US Congress now. This is a major concern and leads to our country being at a standstill. My concern though is at this point we know only 1 party is willing to try to “play ball.” The consequence of this shifts the country as a whole to the Right. Why? When only one side is willing to move center, that center moves right.
This has developed the Democratic Defeatist. This is the generation of people such as the Clintons and most of the establishment Democrats. This has even plagued some of the strong Progressives we once have, one that comes to mind is our very own Minnesotan Al Franken. The man that literally wrote a book about how the government was filled with Liars and cheaters willing to say and do anything to obtain power and keep the average person subdued. Even he has become a shell of that man. Sometimes we see some of that spark, but there is no doubt a lot less of it. I will give some credit to these individuals. It is tough to stay so strong Left while dealing with some of these stubborn Regressives from the Right. Those people who wish to have no taxes yet have government control all the lives of anyone who is not Male, white, and wealthy. Those people deserve complete freedom while the rest rot. It is in the nature of Liberals to care for some progress so much they decided they were willing to concede things to make any small change. They wanted to finally get some social justice and in the end gave the economic stances that have progressed to things like Citizens United. Where we finally see the culmination of bribery within the political system. Let’s not forget some of the most atrocious and non-Left policies out there. The trade deals such as the TPP, the Keystone Pipeline, fracking, the Iraq War, and the general state of international affair with the Middle East by randomly bombing individuals, many of which are innocent bystanders.
This post is not meant to be an attack on Hillary Clinton. She is just one politician of the whole system that is flawed. It is the system that created her. I have no belief she is a bad person or that she wishes to subdue the American people, but in the end that will be the result without any significant change. The system has created a world where the Democrats feel it necessary to play the same games the Republicans do because in the end the statistics are clear. The winner of almost all races comes down to funding. Who has more money. This issue created a Party that felt it needed to move to the large donors to compete, because obviously losing most races against the Right-Wing bigots would result in a far worse world. That I do agree with. The problem is, why wasn’t the natural response to fight and change the system which got it rigged for the rich and corporations to hold the deciding power at the Capitol. That should have been the reaction, but we did not get that from the Party I used to feel really wanted to support the idea of Democracy and justice.
The Democratic Party has moved to about half way to true justice and it all culminates with this election primary. The establishment has gotten so far away from the will of the people in this country and have allowed the big money interests win. Let me show exactly how I KNOW the Democratic Party has been sold the highest bidders. Hillary is that culmination. We all have seen the extent that everyone in that establishment was behind her because they all “support” her with the Super Delegates. I put quotes around “support” because first, they say they are behind someone about 8-9 months prior to when they actually vote and those that “supported” her last time were quick to flip to Obama once he won the peoples’ vote. The second is that they all want something in return. This current government is a long list of people playing the “I scratch your back, you scratch mine” game. They were buying favor with the person they thought was without a doubt going to be President. This was climaxed with the Democratic Party leading one of the most obvious money laundering scheme in current politics. Let me explain.
The rules state that an individual can only give $2700 to a person’s campaign in any given year. The Hillary Victory Fund was created with one of the most outreaching laundering schemes possible. Essentially with the DNC in full support, along with 33 different states, they found a way to shift more money to Hillary. Before I move on I will pose my big dread with this system beyond the moral implications of screwing over the system. This was all done LAST YEAR, so before the Primary really set off, this whole system was created to funnel LOADS of money for Hillary to use in a General Election prior to her actually proving she was getting the nomination. They were so biased to her they were willing to pull this all off before the actual people of the country had cast even one vote for her. Back to the laundering. The scheme essentially takes advantage of that maximum donation by having large donors not just give their max straight to Hillary but then make other contributions to each Democratic Party in all 33 states, up to $10,000 each state. Then those states, with the help of the DNC, instead of dividing that money throughout their internal state races, allowed it to be funneled all the way through the DNC headquarters and deposited into HVF. This allows individual donors to be giving over $660,000 because those amounts are yearly maximums, so 2015 and 2016 allow that number to double.
If there was a doubt the DNC was completely selling out for Hillary from the beginning I hope this helps shed the light in the frustration from the people who want PEOPLE to decide who they want as the candidate and not just the rich and well connected. How do we know this was facilitated by Hillary herself as well? Well the person who handles this entire process and fund is none other than Hillary’s Campaign COO Elizabeth Jones. She decides who all this money goes to. I wonder who she’ll assign it all to??? I will say I am not surprised any candidate wouldn’t take advantage of a system which allows them to do this and try to succeed in their election, but I would like to think I was surprised the DNC itself was willing to discard the very foundation of democratic process to allow an Actual nominee exist before trying this. Now obviously my real issue is that these things should not be allowed to happen or work at all. It OBVIOUSLY leads to corruption and influence of those donors onto the politicians elected because of this funding. This whole thing helped gain over $24 MILLION dollars.
This is the government we have now. One filled with people lining their pockets, either to get elected into high profile positions, or directly into bank accounts for the time they spend in between political positions. To deny the power of money, is to truly live in denial. Just think to yourself the things you would be willing to do for $1000 dollars. Imagine the things for $100,000. What about Millions? It is easy to see why even people with great intentions are able to falter and submit to the money and greed influence by the 1%. Hell, the Clintons are IN the 1%. They are worth more than $111 Million dollars. Though this is not just an issue from the Clintons, and that is my real point. The system must change.
The last thing I will mention is the abysmal primary voting system being used this year is maddening. There are always some issues in a few states where strange things happen that result in some voter concerns. That does not come even close to represent the travesties happening in this primary. In Arizona we saw a state close about 70% of the polling places they were using just in 2008. In this primary which has had some of the highest turnouts of actual voters in history. At minimum this election season is very similar in turnouts to back in 2008. The closings and the bizarre changes of people’s party affiliation happening in states such as New York and California are disgraceful. California where over 500,000 people had their party changed in a “purge” and will unlikely be able to vote in that primary. This is all from the Party who is against voter suppression sure looks like they have changed their minds. Instead of encouraging the highest turnouts for voting, they are encouraging people to ignore the political system and stay home. They are discouraging people from caring. They have subdued political activism. That is one of the saddest results in this election season.
The DNC as a whole has given into these types of games because they feel they have to, or maybe because they want to. Either way, I am willing more than ever to consider myself not a Democrat but an actual Progressive. The Democratic Party is now Center left and I want more. The year of big change may still be a ways out, but I try to remain hopeful it will still come.
